Our Story

Mixala is more than just a tea brand - it’s a story of love, family, and the joy of blending cultures and flavours into something extraordinary. 

 

We’re Amit and Jaspreet, a husband-and-wife team with roots in our British, Indian, and Tanzanian heritage. Inspired by our shared love for Masala Chai and a desire to share the richness of our cultures, we created Mixala to bring you tea blends that are as vibrant and adventurous as the lives we live.

 

As parents to three amazing children, we know the value of creating something meaningful, and every blend we craft is a celebration of family, wellness, and the spirit of adventure. 

 

Mixala isn’t just tea, it’s a journey of flavour, tradition, and connection, steeped in love.

A great way to try them all!

I found MIXALA at a Christmas fair so although I tried them all this was rushed and all became one when I left. The taster set has allowed me to try them all at home with more time to really enjoy them. Fantastic for those new to chai tea as well!

Delightful mixala chai!

It is delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed my mixala chai, a lovely blend of spices! I also love the tea bags which have been designed beautifully, making me feel like it is a special moment. The Rose chai has an amazing taste that makes me instantly think of India and makes me happy at the end of a long day! As a chemistry teacher I enjoyed it even more as the tea bags are biodegradable. What is chai?

The word 'chai' comes from the Hindi word for for 'tea.' So chai is literally tea. The difference is that chai is made with a variety of spices, such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, fennel and ginger. 

Is chai healthy? 

Absolutely! The spices we use in Mixala are known to have positive health benefits. Cardamom boosts oral, heart and liver health. Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory, helping to fight off infections. Cloves help lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Ginger strengthens the immune system and is good for digestion.  

What do I get in a tube of Mixala?

In each tube, you get 15 biodegradable teabags which contain all the magic of Mixala. 

How do I prepare Mixala? 

You simply place a teabag of Mixala into a cup and add 200-300ml of hot water. Let it infuse for around 5 minutes and you're good to go. You can add milk, dairy substitute, and/or sugar to taste. 

Is Mixala gluten free and vegan? 

Yes, all flavours of Mixala are vegan. They are also gluten free and free from all 14 known allergens. 

Does Mixala contain caffeine?

Black tea has caffeine in it so our flavours made from black tea contain caffeine. You can expect around 45mg of caffeine per cup. Rooibos tea, however, is completey caffeine free and so our flavours made from rooibos tea are without caffeine. 

Is Mixala made from sustainable ingredients and prodcuts? 

All of our ingredients are responsibly sourced to ensure sustainability. As for our packaging, the tubes are fully recyclable, the pouch is made from compostable Natureflex and the teabags are biodegradable.
